Being Real About Finding Our Feet in a Competitive Market

Being Real About Finding Our Feet in a Competitive Market

Sometimes it’s hard not to compare ourselves to other laser businesses around NZ. You see what everyone else is making and selling, and wonder if you’re doing enough or heading in the right direction.

The truth is, we’re still figuring it out.

The Crafty Moustache started before we even owned a laser. One of our first boosts came from our Forever Home replicas, which we designed ourselves based on customer photos, we then colour matched, hand painted, assembled and finished their mini home replicas with premium key hooks. There was a lot of time and love that went into making them something special.

We had some awesome feedback from the people who trusted us enough to buy one, and we’re genuinely grateful for that. We even tried offering them to real estate agents, but that resulted in just one sale.

It’s hard putting so much effort into something you’re proud of, only to realise it’s not quite feasible for people to buy at a price that makes it worthwhile for us to make. So, it’s time to move on from the Forever Homes.

We’re not giving up. We’re just learning that not every idea will work out, no matter how much we love it. We’re two people trying to build something of our own, learning as we go and working out where we fit in a pretty competitive market.

There’s plenty more we want to create, and we’re looking forward to seeing what comes next. Thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way. It really does mean a lot!
